One template fix, multiplied by 12 — 8k to 19k organic for a city-hotel group

Twelve property pages ran on one thin template. We rebuilt it once and rolled it out per property — the fix compounded across the whole estate.

Where they started

Twelve hotels, one property-page template, and it was thin. Each page had a hero photo, a paragraph of brand copy, a booking widget, and nothing a guest actually searches for: no room types, no nearby landmarks, no answers to “how far from the station”, no schema. The pages were near-identical apart from the address, so Google treated the whole set as one weak signal repeated twelve times. The group had spent on paid search to paper over it; organic sat flat at 8k sessions while twelve prime location terms went to OTAs and aggregators. The tell was in the crawl: Google had indexed all twelve pages but ranked none of them past position 20 for their own neighborhood, because there was nothing on the page to rank.

What we did

  • Rebuilt the template once. Added room-type sections, a nearby-landmarks block, a real FAQ (parking, check-in, transit), and Hotel + FAQ schema. One page of engineering, not twelve.
  • Rolled it out per property with local content. Each page got its own neighborhood copy, its own landmarks, its own FAQ answers. The template was the frame, not the content. That local layer is what stopped twelve pages reading as one.
  • Pointed 26 links at the estate. Tourism boards and city guides linked individual properties, which lifted DR from 40 to 44 and pulled the weaker pages up with the strong ones.

The step in month two is the rollout: twelve pages upgraded in one release. The slope after it is the local content and links compounding. The lesson travels: at any multi-location business, the template is the highest-leverage page you own.

The results

  • Organic traffic up from 8k to 19k monthly sessions in 8 months

  • Ranking keywords up from 1,800 to 4,900 across 12 property pages

  • Every property now ranks page-1 for its 'hotel [neighborhood]' term

“Enterprise leverage in miniature: one page of work, twelve pages of payoff. The hard part wasn't the fix — it was writing local content for twelve properties without it turning into twelve copies of the same page.”
