resource page link building
Also called: resource links, resource page links
Resource page link building is the practice of earning backlinks from curated "resources" or "useful links" pages that a site maintains for its audience. You find topically relevant resource pages, confirm your content deserves a spot, then email the owner suggesting they add it.
How it works
Resource pages are lists a site curates to point its readers toward the best tools, guides, and references on a topic. Getting listed is one of the more durable white-hat tactics because the link sits in an editorial context, which is what Google’s link spam policy rewards: links placed by a site owner because they add value, not because money or an exchange changed hands.
The workflow is find, qualify, pitch. Find pages with search operators like intitle:resources "your topic", inurl:links.html, or "useful resources" + keyword, and mine competitor backlink profiles for referring URLs containing “resources” or “links”. Qualify each page: is it topically relevant, recently updated, and does it actually link out to third-party sites (not just its own pages, and not only .gov/.edu)? Then pitch the right person, point to the exact section, and say plainly why that page’s readers benefit.
A common accelerator is pairing this with broken link building. Scan a resource page for dead links, tell the owner which ones are broken, and offer your page as the replacement. You hand them a fix and a swap in the same email, which lifts reply rates.
What makes or breaks it is the asset. If the target page already links to ten strong guides and yours just duplicates them, there is no reason to add it. You need a page that is genuinely worth curating.
How it affects your traffic
Resource links are slow to build but tend to stick, because they live on maintained pages an owner chose to keep. A handful of relevant, editorially placed resource links raises the authority signals that help your money and blog pages rank, and referral clicks from a well-trafficked resource page are a bonus. Vetting relevance and writing outreach that actually gets replies is the tedious part, which is why most teams hand it off. That is what our Link Building service runs.
