shipping details structured data

Also called: shipping schema, offershippingdetails, OfferShippingDetails markup, shippingDetails schema

Shipping details structured data (schema.org OfferShippingDetails) is markup nested under a product's Offer that declares shipping cost and delivery time, making the product eligible to display those details in Google merchant listings and product rich results.

Google reads shipping markup at two levels. Most stores should declare one global policy with ShippingService nested under Organization (via hasShippingService) on a shipping-policy page. Use OfferShippingDetails at the Offer level only to override that baseline for a specific product, and note it supports a more limited set of properties than the organization-level type.

To be eligible for the shipping enhancement, the nested shippingDetails object typically carries:

"shippingDetails": {
  "@type": "OfferShippingDetails",
  "shippingRate": { "@type": "MonetaryAmount", "value": "5.99", "currency": "USD" },
  "shippingDestination": { "@type": "DefinedRegion", "addressCountry": "US" },
  "deliveryTime": { "@type": "ShippingDeliveryTime" }
}

You can also repeat shippingDetails to give different rates and delivery windows per region.

Markup vs Merchant Center

If you run a Google Merchant Center account, its delivery settings take precedence over on-page markup, so the two must agree or the feed value wins. Validate with the Rich Results Test and watch the Merchant listings report in Search Console to confirm the shipping fields are read.

How it affects your traffic

Free product listings and merchant rich results reward pages that spell out shipping cost and delivery window, and a vague or hidden shipping line is a common reason shoppers bounce before checkout. Marking up OfferShippingDetails correctly can surface a "Free delivery" or dated-arrival line under your listing, which lifts click-through against marketplace competitors bidding on the same products. It is one lever inside a full e-commerce SEO program, alongside product schema, return-policy markup, faceted-navigation control, and internal linking.
